About LaToya

Communities In Schools of Wake County’s (CIS Wake) Executive Director, LaToya Montague, has dedicated her 20+ year professional career in youth development with the organization. She is passionate about unlocking student potential and challenging them to reach beyond their immediate grasp.

LaToya was one of CIS Wake’s first full scholarship recipients. While pursuing a BS in Business Management at NC State University, LaToya volunteered at the CIS Wake learning center located within the public housing community where she grew up. Upon graduating with honors, she began her tenure with CIS Wake and has served in almost every major role within the organization. LaToya was honored as the CIS national alumnae of the year in 2018, receiving the Tomas Carreon and Alonso Guillén Distinguished Service Award.
