As 2024 draws to a close, I am grateful to reflect on another year spent striving to make the Triangle region the best it can be. We are able to do so from the tremendous support and generosity from you, our fundholders! The trust you place in Triangle Community Foundation inspires the entire team, and has allowed us to grant over $23 million to nonprofit organizations since the start of the calendar year. Thank you!
With the end-of-year giving season now upon us, and as you begin to finalize any grants you’d like to request or gifts you’d like to add to the fund you advise, we wanted to share deadline information as well as gift instructions as you make your plans.
Grant Requests submitted through our Donor Portal by 11:59pm on December 8th will be mailed out to nonprofit organizations by December 31, 2024. Grant requests made after December 8th will be mailed to nonprofit organizations in January 2024. If you need assistance using the Donor Portal, we’d be happy to walk you through it or make accommodations if needed. Please email our team at donorservices@trianglecf.org and we’ll set up a time to talk.
If you advise an endowed fund, just a reminder that the spendable balance must be granted by December 31st. If you wish to make grant requests that will be sent to nonprofit organizations before December 31, 2024, please follow the grant deadlines above.
If the spendable balance is not granted, it will be reinvested when we allocate new spendable balances in late January and post them back to December 31st. Endowed fundholders have received regular communication about this in the past; if you’re unsure if this applies to you, please contact your fund liaison.
If you wish to make a new gift, or a gift into an existing fund, please note the additional deadlines below.

*Please contact your fund liaison if you need to make special arrangements to drop off any donations, particularly during the dates the office is open. We are closed December 24, 25, and January 1.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We have not been able to identify the donor of two stock donations transferred to our brokerage account in September 2022. If you donated stock during that period, please check the donor portal to ensure your donation has been posted. If it has not been posted, please contact finance@trianglecf.org.
*Donor and fund information are not available for stock transfers in our brokerage account. To track the stock gift's arrival and ensure that it is recorded to the correct fund, please notify your fund liaison at the Foundation and finance@trianglecf.org with the following prior to stock transfer:
- Donor's name and contact info
- Name of stock and number of shares transferred
- Date or proposed date of transfer
- Name of the Foundation’s charitable fund to receive the transfer
After receiving the stock gift, the Foundation will initiate a sale of the stock and the proceeds will be deposited in our bank account and recorded within 7-10 business days. Please let us know if you don’t receive a tax receipt within 2-3 weeks. We also recommend that you check the fund activity on the donor portal to ensure your gift was received.
