John Lunsford
John Lunsford is a former CPA who recently retired after more than 30 years in public accounting, including 25 years as a tax partner with Elliott Davis and Lunsford & Strickland. Prior to his accounting career, John was a professional bassoonist, having been a member of the Virginia Symphony, Charleston (SC) Symphony, and Vermont Symphony. He received a Bachelor of Music in bassoon performance with honors from the New England Conservatory, and a Master of Music from University of Massachusetts Lowell. In addition, he spent one year studying at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria. John lives near downtown Raleigh with his wife Beth, who recently retired after a 35-year career as principal piccolo with the NC Symphony. They have two adult children. John also serves on the board of the North Carolina Opera.
