As a result of our internal reflection over the last few years (informed by our 2017 Strategic Roadmap), the Foundation decided to model the transparency we ask of our grantees. Simultaneously, as a community foundation, our primary focus is to support our region, and we believe we can have a larger impact when we represent the community we serve – the Triangle. The Foundation wanted to establish and share baseline demographic information of our staff and Board of Directors. We collected demographic data through stakeholder self-reporting in the fall of 2022 and compared that data to publicly available information specific to the Triangle region from the 2020 Census. This information will be used in future strategy and decision-making, as well as to inform our emerging Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging goal setting for the future of the Foundation.
In addition to this blog post, the Foundation has updated our Candid profile, the world’s largest source of information on nonprofit organizations, to make this information publicly available in multiple locations. The Foundation has been elevated to a Platinum status, the highest seal of transparency.
