Grantee Week Day 2 – Environmental Resilience

Welcome to Day Two of Grantee Week! Today we are pleased to share the 15 organizations who have each received $20,000 grants in the first of a two-year Environmental Resilience program grant cycle. These nonprofits support increasing awareness of and education around conservation and/or climate issues, as well as increased climate resiliency, particularly of low-income communities.
In just the last month, parts of the Triangle and surrounding region were devastated by flooding from Tropical Depression Chantal. Less than one year ago, our neighbors to the west experienced widespread devastation from Hurricane Helene. With an increasing number of climate-related threats expected in the future, the need to mitigate effects of climate change is more important than ever.
The nonprofit organizations selected are implementing nature-based strategies, providing education and communications around conservation and/or climate issues, and engaging in local climate-related advocacy efforts.
Congratulations to the 15 Environmental Resilience grantees below, as well the following 10 organizations who have just received $5,000 or less grants to aid with Chantal recovery:
- Centre for Homeownership & Economic Development, Inc.
- Chapel Hill - Carrboro Public School Foundation
- Diaper Bank of North Carolina
- Haw River Assembly, Inc.
- Hillsborough Community Garden
- Inter-Faith Food Shuttle
- Orange County Arts Alliance
- Piedmont Conservation Council
- PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro
