Disaster Relief Efforts

Triangle Community Foundation staff are continuing to monitor and assess the relief efforts in response to the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile.  Already, TCF donors and friends have contributed more than $135,000 to various organizations supporting this work in Haiti.  For your information, below are several ways you can contribute to these efforts:

1. Give to the Haiti Relief Fund

Haiti Relief Fund:  Triangle Community Foundation has established a fund to respond to the immediate needs of this crisis. Our hope is that the fund also will have enough resources in the weeks and months to come to support the long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts that will take place in this devastated nation. We will post updates on how these funds are being used on this website.

TCF Board member Cécile Noël, a medical provider, traveled to Haiti in early February with a medical team through a local church, Crosspointe Church in Cary. An initial disbursement was made to this group to provide immediate medicine, supplies, and kits to Haitian residents. The trip was one week long, Feb 6-13 and the medical providers went to Jacmel, Haiti, an area south of Port-au-Prince. The group will be returning in July for further relief work.

Haiti’s Cultural Capital Jacmel Damaged In Quake: NPR Story about Haiti’s Cultural Capital Jacmel affected by the quake “mostly two-story stone buildings with ironwork and balconies reminiscent of New Orleans’ French Quarter is now in ruins.”
