As the MSW Intern, Julia assists our Scholarships and Donor Services Officer to manage scholarship applications and outreach. She also researches scholarship fund best practices and student needs for financial aid. She works to provide safe, supportive and efficient systems for students.
Julia grew up in Alabama and Tennessee, and moved to North Carolina in 2009 to attend UNC-Chapel Hill. She will be a triple Tar Heel in May 2018 when she completes her dual master’s degrees in social work and public administration.
She has worked with survivors of sexual and domestic violence since 2010, serving as an advocate on UNC’s campus and an intern for two rape crisis and domestic violence agencies in the Triangle. Most recently, she joined the Board of Directors for the Orange County Rape Crisis Center. She also believes in working with organizations advocating for social justice, specifically concerning poverty, racial equity, and sexual and mental health.
In her free time, she loves trying new recipes, doing yoga, and playing with her new puppy, Bo Jangles!
